This has had to be covered somewhere but I cannot find what I'm looking for. I'm just taking out the AC altogether in the supra while doing my rebuild and was wondering if there was somewhere that describes the process of deleting the entire AC in the MKIII? Just need to know a few little things like do you have to get a dummy pully in the place of the AC or just bypass it with a smaller belt? Or if it is better to keep all the condenser fans even if you delete the AC, just stupid little questions like that. Also the TSRM doesn't show a very good picture of all the AC components in a single view, does anyone know of a better diagram?

Thanks in advance.

It has its own belt on the 7m. So you just remove it.

Just follow all the lines and you will see what you need to remove.

IF there is freon in the system its going to make a little bit of a mess and smell like crap if you just yank a line off fast.

Can keep the condenser fans if you fancy. Tho they will never come on unless your engine temps are up there. Would be a smarter thing to do.

Why remove something that adds value to the car?

But anyway, removing the entire system is quite involved (requires pulling the dash if you're really doing it all)

Just fix the damn system... "It doesnt't work" isn't really a good exuse to remove it. You'll never notice the difference in performance otherwise and it really doesn't take up much room in the bay. There's a reason this isn't discussed so much.. there's no point. I guess if its on a full on racecar I suppose it would help but considering you are asking what's involved, i'd guess the car is nowhere near.

Mine has never worked and the condensor had a big crack/dent in it (found this after I pulled it out). Wasn't going to pay to fix the whole system because I've honestly never needed to use it before, 65* + fan is good enough for me, with the windows down.

Engine is coming out in a few weeks so I ripped out the compressor/condensor and unscrewed almost all of the lines. The only lines I haven't gotten to yet (and need to be capped) are the ones underneath the charcoal canister.

I needed room for my oil cooler anyways, I consider that more important than me.

Back on topic: you can just pull the compressor out along with the brackets and lines, and run without a belt no dummy pulley needed. A 'full' delete would require you pulling the dash and removing every line but that's time consuming and I'm not sure where your priorities are (freeing up engine bay space or removing weight?)

^ thats what i was looking for, i planned on keeping most the lines and sensors in case i want it back someday. I'm just talking condensor/compressor and a couple of the big lines...lol I just don't really want it. Top off and windows down are fine for me. I don't have any ambhition to take the time to fix the AC when i could use that time and money on other parts. Any amount of weight that i can delete is a plus, any amount of drag on the engine i can remove is a plus, and I couldn't care less about the value it adds to my car because this will always be MY car. Im just stubborn i guess.

Your loss :p

While you may not get that hot up there, A/C is needed to clear foggy windows effectively :p

Plus, it's really not much weight, but whatever lol

Microfibre clothes work a treat for that, Where I live there is only a few weeks in the year which the windscreen will fog up

I never used mine either, just dead weight so it's gone!

I also never used mine as from day one of owning it, it never worked. Plus if it did work I would blast it almost non stop as I haven't owned a car with A/C or working A/C. Too me it was for, weight, space and to use less fuel :icon_surp

Edit - I have removed everything viable in the bay, I just have to remove the core when I replace the front bumper + blank it off at the firewall until I get time to pull the dash

A/C is the best thing since sliced bread, and I see a car that has had its A/C removed as a sign that the car has been abused. Say farewell to your resale value.

YESSSS... Means that someone who was too cheap to fix basic things once owned the car. I do have a very harsh opinion on these things though and my true asshole does come out when i open up about it.

May come out more after this post,

I like how I took mine out, will save myself a lot on fuel since I would blast it 24/7. It would be the first car I have owned with A/C or A/C which works.
Where I live the temperature is around 20 degrees C in summer and 10-15 in winter. I have seen 4 supras now driving around, in my lifetime so I personally don't think A/C delete will effect the sell on price of these cars, where I live. Plus I have the complete set up so if I ever came to selling the car which won't happen anytime soon the next owner could re install it if he's into that sort of thing

In before the "asshole previous owner removed the AC", the "I don't want to fix it" (means they don't know how), and "I'll never sell the car" (lmao!) posts. Oh wait...

Pretty sure it's coming out, and is your post to my thoughts or post #6

I come from a land down under
There are very few Mk3's that don't leak water inside the cabin... this alone makes the AC well worth repairing as soon as you put the heater on in Winter you're sitting in a Sauna and can't see shit, AC on windows clear in seconds = :)

I guess it depends on the kind of person you are and the reasons you own the car. I have 2 other cars that are my daily driving cars that i will obviously want to keep the AC in and keep them really "nice" i guess. But i own my supra simply as a hobby and a toy. I would much rather take out anything that makes it more practical or comfortable just to make it more of a thrill when driving it. When i take someone for a ride in my supra I don't want them to get in and say wow this is really nice...i want them to get out and say holy shit that was fun.
