One thing after another on my supra! :3d_frown: Got to love it!

I recently had a friend install a new receiver dryer and a couple cans of R12 and it worked great. But yesterday when I drove my car around a little I noticed that my compressor was leaking oil out the front. It sprayed the inside of my fender well. My AC was working fine up until then. So i'm guessing my compressor is about to die. Today I turned the AC on and the clutch will not engage anymore.

What kind of damage am I looking at! Will I be lucky enough to just install a new compressor and drier and be ok?

if it didnt beat itself to death and spray its internals in the lines then yes... check the pressure line to the condenser and make sure there is no shavings in it though..

How do you check the pressure line. I'm guessing you do that after you have taken any r12 left in the system out? Forgive me for being a little slow when it comes to AC.

I may be needing that compressor from you. Thanks for the offer. Looks like I can get one from Toyota for a little over $250.

I dont know much about ac's either but I can definitely give you a better price than $250.

I don't think that $250 even includes the clutch assembly!!

Well the spray pattern lines up directly behind the pulley. I don't see anything on the lines.

When i used to work at jiffy lube they had a machine to test it, if theres one near you can bring it there and probably hook up one of the guys with a $10 n they test it for you.

Just pick a used compressor w/clutch from some one parting a sup.;) Install new orings for the lines from toyota, put a vac. to the system then fill her back up and hope for the best.

R12 sounds spendy. Go with 134, that is what I have on my 100% oem system and works great. But it is up to you, and what you want to use.
