I'm about to buy a daily driver, that when I'm finish toying with the supra i can move on too and enjoy. I pretty much narrowed it down to either a 1rst gen lexus gs or sc. Both will end up being converted to 5pd with 2jz na-t setup. I just finish helping a friend converted his boosted gs to 5spd and it way harder than a sc but also will be very rare since they never came stick.

Im also looking at resale value. Ive seen 1jz and 2jzgte swapped sc sell for 9-12grand on average in my area. I have seen boosted gs300 auto sell for 6 grand but i wonder if theres a strong market for a 5spd turbo gs.

I kno most ppl buy the sc and boosted them because they cant afford a mkiv. ( i kno thats why all my boys do it lol) and it would be easier to sell the sc when im done rather than the gs i would think.

but if you guys had to pick which would you guys do as a project? single 5spd gs300 or a lexs sc?

Oh.

So a 1st gen gs vs an SC? SC (FYI, Shineautoproject has an Autocouture kit)

Because when you tell people that you have a GS, they'll assume that you have either a 2nd Gen or a 3rd Gen. Then they find out you have a 1st Gen, then they'll say, "oh." Just like when you tell people you have a Supra, they assume you have an MKIV. Then they find out it's an MKIII, then they say "oh." :(

1st gen GS looks good, but it has to be on slammed suspension. My recommendation for a 1st mod: air!

GS.

Get a sliver one, keep it visually stock, throw on MKIV TT 17s on and you've got the ultimate base for a sleeper :evil2:.

yea the gs would def be the ultimate sleeper compared to the sc, Everybody is boosting the sc's but the gs is still under the radar. Its just the extra weight that comes with it thats a handicap.

Actually there's not much of a weight difference.

Curb Weight:

GS300 3660lbs
SC300 3505-3604lbs

Im biased because i have an SC (and i love it btw :p) but i never really caught on to the styling of the 1st gen. GS. It really didn't sit right with me and looked too bland from the outside. 2nd gen. GS looks downright sexy and has the same 2JZ engine as the first. If you want to hide underneath the radar, go GS. If you want to stand out, go SC.

I was initially drawn to the SC because of the RWD layout and basically supra engine. Going further down the road the cars are so similar to each other from suspension and brakes to enignes and trannies, and even the freakin seats swapped out perfectly(the MKIV seats feel sporty and give me the headroom i desperatley needed). I get nothing but comments on the SC's looks. It doesn't have the get-up-and-go as other cars of it's class but nothing NA-T can't fix.

i say sc.. it's not so rare, but they look sooo good when you lower them on the right wheels. in my personal opinion, 1st gen gs's are fucking UGLY!
