it's the same transmition that came in every jza70, apparently it's the same as the a341e that came in the jzx81 soarer except a different 4th gear ratio. Don't know whether that helps or not but not much is known on this transmition or atleast I don't know much about it, Jeff?

nobody seems to like the tranny.it is just as dependable as the other supra trannies.the ecu drops a couple of injector's when you shift to help tranny life(lights up the sky at knight with a nice fireball out the tail pipe)

Well my friend is getting ready to order a 1J and Auto tranny included...aside from the risk of it being a good tranny, he is giving it to me for very cheap. I, on the other hand, have an A340E tranny that is slipping like ass on water. If it's for sure an A342E...can this go into my 88 7M?

you can use it.you just need to pull your bell housing from the a340.drive shaft is the same,as long as its out of the supra.

So it is a direct swap...but I'll need the bell housing from my Supra right now? Sounds simple enough:). With a high stall torque converter...I should be good to go.

Also, What is different as far as performance and what not goes compared to the A340E. Anything at all?

i read somewhere the gearing was a little different.i can't really comment on it though.i went from a 7mgte,a340,373 lsd to a 1jzgte,a342,373 lsd.1j spool sucked balls till the 4.10 torsen went in.you might want to check with supra girl.i'f i'm not mistaking she is running a a340 on a 1j,the opposite of what your doing.if you where close by i could give you a a340 real cheap.

im doing a 1jz+a342e swap soon as well. it will be bpu from the start with intake, catback, 3 inch downpipe and 2.5 inch hardpipes and a 24x12x3 FMIC, im hoping my spool up times are decent. i remember just a catback on my 7m auto sped up spool times by twice fold, perhaps a bit more and more power down low out of boost. so i can hope that has the same effect on the 1jz, seeing as how the stock twins spool faster then the ct26 anyway.

does anybody know if a340e, a341e shift kits/worked valve bodies are compatible on a342e's? i hear just that and a cooler will lengthen the life of your tranmission considerably and make 20 psi a possibilty without a race rebuild.

Well...I've realized that my Tranny has started GOING bad within the last month...but before that, I couldn't tell if it couldn't just "handle the power" or if it was going bad then...So...It would be an awefully open question to ask if it is in good condition or not:(....Well...is it? How much as it been used? Est. Mileage, etc.
