Check the Maft pro info. As with most systems, it should tell you what is required to interface with it.

I will say no. I don't think the Android operating system is compatible. No one has written anything for this type of interface (that I know of).

You'll need to build an adapter so that the phone can see a db9 serial interface. Then you'll need to write the code that allows Android to monitor the adapter you've built. Then you'll need to write the software to actually monitor the MAFT unit. It's not difficult, however, it sure is time consuming. Let us know when you get it up and running.

Not unless your phone plugs into the other end... and I guaran-damn-tee it's going to be ass backwards, you'll end up with two male ends and no way to hook 'em together. The last thing you want is your phone plugged into a cable plugged into a cable plugged into a cable plugged into your MAFT unit.

The cable isn't going to be the longest pole in the tent anyway, it'll be dwarfed by the effort of getting any code to function.

monoprice.com has a bunch of USB adapters, I just ordered a few. female to female, USB A to B, and they are cheap and fast. ordered at noon, by 5pm I had a shipping notice.

probably something like this would work if your phone is a mini-b usb: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10314&cs_id=1031401&p_id=4813&seq=1&format=2

something like that should work ... well i get the phone tomorrow and the maft pro is backordered right now but i sure will try and see if i cant get something to work... the program has already been writen for pc i just have to get it onto the droid.... hmmmm i would appreciate any ideas on how to make this work and i will definately post if i get anything even kinda workin

Like GrimJack says, once you connect them, you still have to get them to "talk" to each other. That is the "fun" part. You'll need to know how to write up some code. As for the rooted Android, all that means is you have given yourself unrestricted access. For example, if you have ever worked in a large corporation, you are restricted from installing/removing any unauthorized software. You are also restricted from making any system changes to your PC. This is the same for the non-rooted Android Operating System that you get from your carrier. When you root the phone, you are essentially reloading an unrestricted operating system which allows you to do anything you want, including bricking the phone. Bricking a phone is similar to a continuous blue screen cycle on a PC.

That's it for today kids!

yeah ... but what i am wondering is...( bear with me as i still dont have either device ....) once i root it i should be able to take the "unauthorized" maft pro software and put it on the droid.... then i would just have to get the phone to connect the right port to the software.....am i way off base here??? maybe i should head over to a droid forum and see what the droid geeks think about it....

Yes, it's possible. You just need to get the two devices to talk to each other. That requires knowledge to write software.

Here is another analogy...
When you buy a new printer and just plug it into you PC, it probably won't work. You would need to install a driver. A driver is software that was written to be installed on the PC so that it can talk to the printer.

i know enough about programming to understand the "driver concept" lol.... i just dont know enough about the android os to know if it will accept windows programs .... and i dont know if the maft software is written in java (the script that android is written in)

lol or maybe i could get enough people to want it that maft or someone on fullthrottle would write a program for us:) that would make things easy

suprasport? ha, good luck with that.

Jack is a good guy and I actually like working with them i have no complaints he gives regular updates
On the status of parts I order and responds right away to my emails .... the only reason they get a bad rap
Is because of impatient jerks who want custom parts they order today to get to them yesterday...imo:)

ive dealt with them before, and there is no excuse for poor communication. if a part isn't available, simply say so, don't ignore multiple messages.
