well, i went to crank it earlier and got nothing but a click by the ecu area. i couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was coming from. i put it to key-on and tested for power everywhere and the only places i wasn't getting power was from the CPS and fuel pump resistor thing. everything else had power. it started raining so i kinda had to stop working, but i was just wondering what are the possible causes for this. i'm gonna work on this tomorrow, but i just want some ideas to start with. thanks alot!

A bad battery will cause it. The amount of current needed to crank the starter is much higher than just turning on lights.

You could have a different problem, but that comes to mind.

Check for constant battery power on the big wire on the starter. Check for power on the small wire when your buddy turns the key to crank.

Then you need to test the starter and system as shown. If the small wired isn't powered when the key is turned to crank, then we will worry about that.
