well this is a new one for me, first thing im not an a/c person but its been getting real hot and my girl wants to put the a/c back to working. the a/c does work, but ran out of the refrigerant, now i thought the low pressure nozzel is suppose to be in the front by the P/S line and i did the conversion of the R12 to the R134a, and for some reason the fitting did not fit, and my 87 N/A did fit with no problem, but then i found a fitting that took the conversion piece right at the compressor, its on the line still but, just want to know if that would be the spot to do the refill, and if thats the high pressure port or not, just want to do this safe, and rather ask than be sorry.

also just incase this is going into a 88 7mgte.

one more thing, i have looked around and the a/c capacity is around 1.4-1.7lbs of fluid right? or 650-750g, i put in a/c yesterday i have put in 2 cans of the artic freeze, with the advance leak sealer, when i put one can it said around 12psi on the gauge on the can, and then i bought another can and still said the same, but i think i did a over fill just a tad bit over, or the gauge is not working properly and the gauge is new too, what do you guys think? a/c does work, just takes some time to work. but yesterday was real cold but today wasnt too cold, and i know its not leaking cause i changed the gasket that was leaking. so you guys think 2 cans is over fill? also the cans where 18oz of the same product.

I too recently did the 134a conversion. Last year I was blowing ice cold on original r12, this year, not so much. Cans gage showed about 15lbs of R12 in the system, so I captured the r12 and replaced it with 134a (did not vacume) and it seems to work pritty well. On the Highway I get steddy cold, but in town it doesn't get very cold at all and cuts in and out. Instructions on the conversion kit said to pressurize to between 20lbs and 60lbs... not a real exact science! Does anyone know what Proper charge should be? And if the system is over charged, could that cause the compressor to work harder, thus increasing the odds of Overheat?

not sure, mine works but i have to get a new clutch for it, i also had the synthetic which i could kinda tell the difference, but at stops it will not be cold but once i start to move during the city it will be cold
