My mechanic asked if I wanted to convert my A/C to the new stuff. He fixed a little problem (a leak) and re-charged the A/C , I told him no but I was wondering what you guys think of that? Is the new stuff just as good? I usually say "If it aint broke dont fix it".

thanks for the advice...

Question - can you convert back to the old refrigerant? You just pull off the little nipples and evacuate the old R134 gas and put in the new R12 gas right?

I converted mine, new AC compressor, etc... and it does an "average" job but not super cold.

r134 works fine for me, it may not be as cold as r-12 but i know ealier this week on the interstate for 50miles i had the air on. When i get in my neighborhood i rolled down the windows and turned the a/c off and my rearview mirror and my glasses fogged up.:bigthumb:
