When trying to use my AC the compressor does not engage. When it's bypassed we can get it to work and it has more than enough freon in it.

Basically it's not getting the signal. Any ideas?

check your wire connection at the compressor to the clutch, probably dirty or broken, follow the wiring diagram and look for breaks in the wire to the AC switch on the dash.

What part? 51 indicates the IDL contacts are not closed, or the A/C is on. If you turn on the A/C and pull codes, and you don't have a 51, that is the first problem.

If you are getting 51, then you will check output. I am basing this on your saying the A/C works fine, if you jump the compressor.

The A/C clutch has a relay. It is controlled by the system. The control side of the relay is the cigarette lighter, the operation side comes from the pressure switches.

There is quite a few thinks you will need to check electrically, but with the EWD, it shouldn't actually take to long.
