the thing is stuck good. Need to cut the adjustment bolt and get a new one and a new stud the bearing/pulley rides on. Looks like it's rusted or somin.... anyone have this happen? I take it the bone yard or dealer is the fix right? Took it apart and heated it still no go.

Boneyard will be cheapest for the assy. A new bearing with the pulley, at Carquest was $28 (my shop price). I went to the bearing house and got just the bearing for $14.:biglaugh:

Let this be a lesson to all who read this. Next time you open the hood, spray some WD40 (or any penetrant) on the nut and the threads. Do so every so often to prevent Supra5MGTE's problem happening to you.

For years, and on numerous used cars, I have saved myself some of these problems by spraying WD40 or Prestone's Silicone spray on various bolts and door locks, hinges, hood and trunk latches, supports, etc.

Did you know that WD40 was invented for the space program to help protect metal?? Yep. Been there, done that (space shuttle that is, 11 years, learned a WHOLE bunch a stuff there, then got laid-off).

Water Displacement batch attempt 40. Employees actually were sneaking it out to use personally. That's when they realized they could market it to the public.

Your friend. Get the 16oz bottle; it'll last you the rest of your life. Use a cheap acid brush so you don't get it everywhere.
