i've gone through the write up on this, but i was wondering if i need to use a 1jz coolant overflow bottle? is there any other way to fit the ic up in there?

I had no trouble fitting mine in without removing the overflow. It fit up pretty nicely i think. But I dont know which IC you bought, the medium or the large, because I have the medium.

You can use the stock one, but it does limit how high you can place the intercooler.
If using the 7m overflow, you should re-bend the bracket to place the bottle as high as possible, without hitting the hood.

or if your using a smaller battery than stock, slide it between the battery and the fender support (i use an optima). i had to move mine to install an IC block-off and new horns (stock suck anyway)
