Has anyone put a stereo from a 93-98 supra or any other nice oem toyota/lexus stereo into an mk3 supra?

I thought about this before. Placing an in-dash 6-disc changer from a newer Toyota in my car. I believe I remember reading that it's a fairly simple operation... someone step in here. I know I wouldn't have thought of it if it were harder than putting an aftermarket cd player in...

I wont be hard. Both cars have a double DIN slot, but the wiring harness will be different. Easy fist though. If you can get the male connector off a MK4 then you can spice it to your factory harness on the MK3. You'll also have to find out what speaker wires on the MK4 since it'll have 6 or more speakers. Even then, you might only be able to get 4 speakers instead of 6 unless you have a 6+ (89+ cars) speaker system. Not hard.

If you buy one of those Scosche wiring and it shold not be any problem. The har ness is almost the same.

I have a 1990 car so I guess I have 6 speakers and the wiring harness plug looks identical with the same number of pegs. It looks to me to just be plug and play but any more info would be great.

Make sure the 12v constant, ACC, and ground are in the same pins on either connector, then just plug it in and find out if they're all the same.

+1 on the navi. forgot about that!

I got a radio from a 97 in mine, mostly PNP. Be careful, newer style toyota radio's wont fit. They are a differant size.

Only one problem. The Scosche and similar harness' are female connectors. You use them so that you don't have to butcher your existing harness. Unless you thought about getting one for the MK3, then splicing the MK4 harnes into it. The all you have to do is clip it in to the factory harness and in the deck.

unless you get a radio that was part of a factory amplified system, the wiring harness will be identical.

Toyota has not changed their wiring harness (non amplified) since 86. the color of wires are different, but that's all.

Toyota has used the same plugs from 1987-2000, and on most vehicles post-2000. The 93-94 Supras used the exact same stereo as the 92 Supra (same part number), later models will also go in without any modification.

The only exception is if you're putting it into a car that didn't have the external amp, you will need to get the external amp and wiring harness from the dash to the amp (under the passenger seat).
