Tonight was one of those epic nights that i got to take my supra out on the town (nothing was broken for a change). all of my friends met up, we hung out, and then went seperate ways, since there are better things to do than to hang out in a shakey's parkinglot on a saturday night. On the way back home, i stopped at a stoplight, and my friend pulled up beside me in his 2005 Dodge Rumblebee with the 5.7 liter hemi (has an intake and exhaust). He looks over at me and asked if i wanted to go. Never being able to turn down a challenge against his cars (has a 66 mustang that the supra has owned a few times as well), i accepted. The light turned green, and we both punch it. At first his truck took off and left the supra, but as the turbo spooled up and the car shifted into second (god i hate not having a standard), the supra walked right past his truck like it was sitting still. at about 80 i shut it off, having put several car lengths on him. There is nothing better than beating a 30,000 dollar truck with my 17 year old supra.

No, i just had it in drive and i floored it. And as for the srt10 that is a badass truck. i would love to actually get one of those old guys who drive those around here to open one up (of coarse id get killed, but it be awesome to get beat by a truck that sounds like a viper:squirt-mo )

How do you figure that manually shifting a tranny will hurt it? Explain your thoughts and logically think about them as you type them. All you're doing is controlling WHEN it shifts, you aren't putting any extra stress on it at all...

EDIT: Almost forgot, Nice kill :D Gotta love takin down motors with almost twice the displacement!! "Boost: The replacement for displacement"

No it wont. The auto trans uses fluid pressure to shift gears. All you are doing is changing it manually rather then letting it do its own thing. Now it is possible to overheat your trans, like if you leave it in 2nd gear and take it all the way to the redline and leave it there for an extended amount of time. Then you could overheat your trans that way. BTW, good kill JD!

speaking of srt10 pickups, i lined up with one in my mustang two years ago at a light on the highway. I didnt even realize he was there till after the light changed, and he gas-ed it. Im not sure if he heard my car camming out or what, but he thought he was gunna eat some stang for lunch. The funny thing was, my stang was a 13sec capable car, and it really loved 2nd and 3rd gear. So anyway, he gas-ed it, i heard him and did so too, and pulled on him about 3 or 4 lengths till i hit about 75 mph and let off. I also braked to let him know i was done mostly because i was going to get wasted soon enough haha. The next light a mile up, he didnt even look over! sorry to steal the thread. i just thought it was funny that he was faster and didnt know it.
