Been contemplating building a 7m with N/A compression maybe a little more say 9.5:1 at the most on about 12psi someday more with stand alone and good internals. Biggest question is if a 7mgte ECU can handle it or will the raised compression be to much for it to deal with safely or just wait to get a stand alone and good tune. Dont feel like cooking any pistons.
Any one got experience on this? Im sure theirs a write up somewhere on here just havent found it yet. Still gunna keep looking.

Will need either good fuel or some sort of detonation suppressant ie: Water injection, I'm currently doing this with a 6.0L Chev+low boost.

The motor is currently a ge but buy the time im done (if i do it) be just the same as gte just with N/A compression. I'm hoping the ecu will be ok with detonation on 93 oct at 8psi, if im lucky run more.

why dont u wait till u get standalone before getting high compression pistons? or before going turbo.. which ever way u are doing it? instead of meessing around and hoping you dont detonate your pistons lol
or water injection

if your using the gte electronics it "shouldnt" be a problem as some of the aftermarket pistons are 9.+ compression pistons but you could also lower the comp but just adding a thicker hg.

Ummm a GE is THE same as a GTE just with more compression ;)

all except harness, ecu, intake manifold is a bit different, MAF sensor, pretty sure intake cam is different to. So a bit more then just compression.

Ecu reads different things including the afm and timing. The pistons are different. the cams are slightly different. The rods, crank, heads, and intake cam are the same. All the sensors are the same. There really isnt that much different other than the turbo part which requires different part to make it run properly.

You're forgetting Squirters and the 2nd knock sensor....

Same basic engine.

Not to interested in lowering compression with head gasket. Got a HKS 1.2MM for it already. The only point for this idea is to build a stronger pull through the power band especially when not on boost yet. I'v seen several cars (non supras) that have done this and run very strong just takes more careful tuning once you start reaching for more power.
Thinking the 7m ECU can handle 8psi without detonating on 9.1. But wasn't positive so just hunting for opinions. So i'll take in to interest any ones point of view on the matter.
