earlier on my friend posted for me about my supra, now im reposting, and refining and giving more detail. i've searched the forums, which led me to many possible answers, all of which, were no use.
i bought a 1989 toyota supra turbo, automatic. first off the accordian hose is gone to crap, tons of cracks all over it.(seaching for a new one) i duct taped it and glued the cracks (not for driving, just to keep stuff out)
When i purchased the car it would start, and run very rough. The gentleman said the timing needed further adjusting. I set the timing to top dead center, and then the car would not start, and made a strange noise when trying to start.
---When it ran, it ran rough, and when i first started it up, id be flooring the gas and i'd be at 1,000 ~ 2,000 RPM. i drove it around and theres no throttle response, and no power. when it gets near 800 rpm, it wants to die, and runs like crap. also, i wasnt getting any boost. i looked for boost leaks and couldnt find anything.. and inspected the intercooler & piping and saw nothing of concern. However, i did find a small exhaust leak enbetween the downpipe and turbo.
I have checked the AFM, ignitor, coilpacks, used my friends accordian hose, replaced gaskets, tps, isc, replaced thermostats.. etc etc, and i still have not been able to get my supra running.

If someone could please help me out i would highly appreciate it.
thanks guys.

symptoms:
-overheats
-won't idle
-when floored, it bogs and rpms barely increase
-sounds like something is boiling inside the engine near the #6 piston
-misfiring
-no other symptoms of a BHG other than the overheating
-new head gasket, ARP's studs torqued to 80 ft lbs
-n/a cams
-the previous owner said timing needed to be adjusted. It looks like everything was aligned correctly
-basic BPU mods
-replaced thermostat
-fuel cutting out when throttle is applied

When we took it for a test drive the trottle was unresponsive and very slow.
The car sounds like it was running okay but it felt underpowered.

We have searched the forums for information and answers and we've tried them without success. So hopefully this information will help you help us.

it sounds like there is a huge vaccum leak somewhere... I bet its the accordian hose. Check all the hoses going and coming from the intercooler and replace all the vaccum line on the car. You might also look into getting a major tune-up ie: plugs, wires, clean contacts on cps, fuel filter, and an oil change. I have never had an automatic but I thought there was a way to get diagnosic codes for the trans...you might check that also.

thanks for the feedback whasian.
I been tracing vacuum lines and found a few that were cracked, and replaced them immediately. i've been trying to find a cheap accordian hose, but none have presented themselves. (7mgte's in junkyards here get picked through FAST)
one point though..
the accordian hose shouldnt be causing this problem because i used my friends which is nice, and it ran crappy still.
but ill look through the rest of the vacuum lines and see what i can come up with.
thanks.
