89 turbo over heating problems

so i just got my 89 t supra to start runnig..drove it to school no problem...at lunch headed out drove about 10 miles no problem..but when i got back to the house..it started to over heat..thermostat went way up..any ideas?

did the thermostat needle fluctuate? For instance go to H and come back down repeatedly?

Check the coolant level, check to see if there is oil inside the coolant. and fill the radiator up if needed

vapour lock sometimes happens.... run ur car with the rad cap open when its cold for a few mins and fill the rad up at the same time... but if therse oil in the overflow... u have bhg. but most of the time ur not acctually overheating... ur sensor just thinks u are... or atleast in my past situations...
