Friend of mine is doing his GTE swap in his 87 car, and his harness is from an 89. Obviously the harnesses do not match up. What can be done about it? Are we looking at repinning most every connector between the 2, or is their another easier way? I haven't had opportunity to investigate fully, but I know their is more stuff on the 89 harness, and obviously the connectors at least changed shape. Ideas guys and/or girls?

Use the yellow the plug engine harness and just splice in the few sensor plugs that are different on the harness. Thats what I did :D. Sourcing a decent engine harness for an 86.5-88 might be kind of difficult though. I paid 120 for mine....well worth it...trust me!

Just cut the engine to body harness connectors from the yellow plug and splice them into the gray plug harness?

No, if you were to do that, de-pinning is the only way to go.

If it were my car, I'd just source the proper harness.
