so, this may have been discussed before, but i searched all over and couldn't find anything on it. previously i was running a 91 7mgte ecu on my 2jzge-t. then a friend told me about how the 89 7mgte ecu has a slightly more aggressive tune to it, and also had the 6800rpm redline. next thing i knew i found one of these ecu's in the junkyard and i got it. i put it on my car, and right away i noticed the car was a lot smoother. overall it felt like the car was making more power, and it indeed had the higher redline. this made my 2jz happy since 6200rpm is kind of a bottleneck for it. i've been slowly tuning my car over the last month or two, and i've been testing these changes against my friends evo mr. this car was dyno tuned at 325hp 350tq to the wheels on a mustang dyno. his car is about 120 lbs lighter than mine without the drivers, and he's about 40lbs heaver than me. so, its pretty close. before the 89 ecu he was able to beat me by about 1 car length by 120mph. after the ecu i was beating him by about 1 car length at 120mph. also people have been noticing my car shooting fire out of the exhaust after the ecu. so, it seems to me that this ecu is giving me some more power. the two runs were at 10psi of boost for me, and identical settings on my vpc/safc2 combo at the same 6degrees btdc. all i can say is i wasnt expecting that much of a gain. it was well worth my 10 dollars! can anyone else confirm what my findings are?
