Hey guys I'm new to the forums, I only posted when I got the car. From when I got the car till now theres been some changes. Well first off I bought the car for 500.00 off a buddy. The car has a knock and he didn't want to mess with it and since I'm a Toyota boy and own 2 toyota MR2's I said I want it! (Plus the Supra is my dream car!) So now here I am with an 88 Supra turbo, Mileage is unkown. It knocks/ed, but body is streight. The car is now motorless, as I pulled it out to rebuild it. It's a stock rebuild, I'm not looking for power with it. Just want a reliable DD. As for body its original paint is white, previous owner painted it blue...why? I don't know. So I'm going to return it to white, drop it and some good looking rims. I'll be buying paint this friday!

A few questions, is there anything I need to look out for while rebuilding my 7mgte or certain parts the NEED to be replaced?

After months of owning the car I finally took action on my supra's knock. I pulled the 7m out and going to figure out what is knocking (even though its an obvious rod knock)
Here lies the victim. . . I mean supra for surgury

Is that coolant on the rod bolts? Prolly knocked from a bhg.

Good luck on the build.

Id machione the block and head for a mhg. make sure the rear timing cover is bolted on when the block is machined.

Indeed it can. When water mixes with oil the oil pump will suck up the water and feed it to the bearings which will promptly destroy them for you. So nice of the hg to do that to you right. lol.

Pretty common. Even people who fix the hg half the time they drove on it while it was mixing and possibly didnt know it, and after about 1k+ miles it will start knocking on them. Its a pain.

Yea this sucks big time, I opened my gas cap the other day only to see white goo =(, hopefully not too much damage was done to the rest of my car though.

Long time no update

Got a rebuild kit, along with an OEM Head gasket and ARP Head studs

Since I did this alone and my hands were all covered in oil I didn't get pics of the full rebuild
Heres my new crank provided from a forum member (forgot his name)
