Ok well im some what new to this site being that my 1987 n/a died last year and havent been following them too much. But i do miss my supra like crazy and have been thinking about buying a new one when i either get enough money to or can find one thats decent to trade for my s10 blazer 4 door 4x4 4.3 ltr . well todays that day sort of.
i found a 1987 turbo hard top the guy may trade me for my truck but the supra is not currently running and hasnt in a couple of years. I dont believe the car has a seized engine or bad head gasket because the engine is somewhat built but i could be wrong. i asked the owner if it turns over and he says nothing at all happens when he makes a try to start it i asked him also if it seized he said no but you never know. I remember about a month after i had bought my 87 n/a i had an ignition problem that was basically caused by my viper alarm crossed with the original alarm which totally cut the ignition it didnt turnover or anything so i had to pop the clutch and brought it to the shop and got it fixed. just trying to troubleshoot why a perfectly running mkiii with mods and new parts after sitting for a few years just wont start. this is basically what the car consists of .....~Bomex full body kit ($2000)
~3 peace 92 rear spoiler ($500)
~UP GRADED CT26 TURBO ($1800)
~PORT AND POLISHED HEADS ($1600)
~METAL HEAD GASKET ($350)
~ACT clutch ($650)
~Tokico shocks ($1000)
~Eibach Rro-kit Performance springs ($275)
~KNN in-take
~2 seats of seats (one from a 92 cloth and lather)
~braided brake lines
~Supra OEM turbo time (VERY VERY RARE!)
~custom gages
~custom floor mates
~tinted windows
~new power antenna still in book
and a few other parts not mentioned please give me some tips on what you guys think may be wrong with it.

thats very possible and it could be as simple as that but then again the whole fuel system could be crapped out lines, filter, etc...

oh and i love the supracharged concept lmao

1. 3-pc 92 spoiler is not worth $500 unless it came from the dealer
2. Upgraded CT26 turbo- $1800? LOL. Try $500
3. Ported and polished headS? It has one head.
4. MHG can't cost $350 unless its an HKS stopper gasket
5. Tockico shocks. $1000?!? Try $500 if they're Illumina's, half that for the blues.
6. Supra oem turbo timer??? Never heard of this. Someone chime in and confirm or deny these existed.

I assume that these values were quoted to you by the guy trying to sell it to you.
ANY motor can be seized or have BHG, doesn't matter if it was performance built.
Put a socket wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt, and try to rotate the motor in neutral.
Another very real no-start possibility is a bad trigger wire going to the starter. It's the small wire going to the solenoid. Some people either bypass this,
or wire in a relay to provide it more power. If it doesn't crank at all on a good battery, this would be my guess.

^+1 on those prices.

Do yourself a favor, when you go to look at the car take a breaker bar and a socket that fits the crank pully bolt and try to turn it over by hand. If it will turn over with an average amount of force then the motor is not seized. Also, take a fully charged car battery with you because the seller will shrug his shoulders and say sorry the battery is dead.

Regardless of the fuel pumps functional status, the motor should turn over. Bring starting fluid and you should be able to get a brief fire up if the problem is fuel system related.

Remember, never believe what the seller tells you, test it for yourself before spending a dollar.

Diagnosing this problem over the internet with the information provided is like trying to give a haircut over the phone based upon a picture of a hair follicle...

lol.. if you really want to try and start it... Get a remote start from AZ or napa or somewhere... Connect one end to the positive post on the battery, connect the other end to the starter solenoid on the little tab comming from the igntion tumbler. put the car in neutral gear or park turn key to acc on and push button.. If nothing it might be time to walk or possible bad starter. Make sure you take a known good battery or you could run a jumper lead from a running vehical..

For 3k you can get a running supra. Move on to another and I would not trade a running SUV for a dead car. Plus don't be a sucker into paying that much for a lemon.
Why not just get a motor and put it into your n/a while you already have a dd?

thats true and i would but when i said it died i didnt really give you too much info on my n/a it was a combination of some dumb security officer running into and up the passenger side of her in 4 wheel drive and a week later she blew at about 166000 miles it was a project and my first car the body was relatively straight for a 87 besides the rear wheel wells were rusted up so the rear interior was gutted to fix it with fiber glass it had tems very good running car until the accident. i just didnt have any time money or room to work on it.

Sounds like someone else's failed project....

IMO mod lists don't mean squat in 98% of the cars being sold.

The turbo timer I have, is a 1st or 2nd gen Greddy.
They are NOT rare, and not very valuable. The guy gave it to me for free when I bought the entire engine swap.
