87 7mgte to a 89 na swap

Ok i totaled my car (87 targa turbo) a couple months major front end damage engin is still good. im looking at buying an 89 targa N/A. i was wondering if i could take the 7M-GTE and drop it in the 89 body with no problems i have the electronics and wirring harness and all that for the 7mgte and ive searched but i need more info then i can find ive read that 89s have changed and i was wandering if that would cause me problems? any help would b appriciated thanx

Depends on the production date of the '89 chassis.

As long as it came out of a Supra, there is no difference in the oil pan. If it came from a Cressida (7MGE), it will be a different oil sump/pan design regardless of whether it's USDM or JDM, and it won't work in the MA70 unless you switch the USDM goods over.

Pull the glove box out of each car and check the color of the connectors on the ECU. If they're both yellow, you should be good to go. NA-T swaps done this way are a breeze. Worste case, you'll have to invest in an 89+ harness/ecu, which can be had for like <$200 shipped last time I checked.
