Different crank - the 90 has more counterbalancing.
Different engine mounts as well, round vs. square, but that's not really dependent on the 7M.

The different wastegate actuators build boost faster on the 89 and newer. There is probably differnent programing in the ECU to accomidate it.

that's what i want to know, because i have a 89+ engine wired into my 87 ecu does that mean am making less power
or the power is in the engine.?
i did notice that this motor build boost much faster tham my old engine or maybe it was just old .

prolly just the engine...
when they came out new yes there was a diff., but after 19+ years, u shouldn't feel ne big diff.
