I have a na supra with a bent rod I think and a friend just went 1j so he gave me his old motor idk what all is done it is just a short block for now.

I want to swap it in and am looking for 400ish hp but I am somewhat new with playing with efi and 7ms.

the plan right now is to sell my 78 celica and get my tax refund as funding but idk what all i need.

parts list so far.

cx racing t61 ''bolt on''
intercooler
walburo 255 in tank
injectors?? don't know what size i need
megasquirt 2 with eds6 for fuel and spark
and a clutch that will hold power but slip before i blow my trans

I have a small budget so I am looking to do this on the cheap but I only want to do it once when it is finished it will be my dailey

any help would be great or if any one has done a similar build shoot me in the right direction.

First, please explain why/how you think you've bent a rod.

I suggest doing a LOT of reading before trying to just drop the motor in and make 400hp. Also, trusting an old motor of unknown history to make 400hp reliably isn't usually the best idea, although many do it with varying levels of success. Just watch out.

1) an upgraded intercooler is always a good idea.
2) Wally 255 will get you there
3) 550cc injectors will give you a little room to grow
4) For a measly 400hp there is no need for a standalone. Stock ECU and a piggyback will do it with ease as long as you can tune it properly, or have it done for you.
5) I haven't had a running Supra in so long that I'm behind the times on what's available for clutches. I ran a CM stage 3 on my turboswapped 86.5 w/ the w58 tranny and it was fantastic.

A MHG is a good thing to do if the motor is out and you decide to tear it down for a rebuild, though a stock (OEM Toyota) headgasket will suit you fine for 400hp with a proper tune. Make sure to torque to 72ft lbs, and if you use ARP hardware (which is a good idea) follow their instructions.

There are so many ways to get to 400hp, but many of them are not good ways. In all honesty, if the motor is out, rebuild it or have it rebuilt. Upgrade the oil system a bit (full flow thermostatically controlled cooler and relocated filter) Check out ARZ's bottom oil crossover pipe. Having a good, long lasting motor all starts with proper machining and prep work, along with not cutting corners.

I had my filter mounted in the fender under the headlight and ran through a bid puddle. the motor stalled and wen I got it started it ran rough and still dose.

I saw the gte I have in the car running and rode in it several times. it is on a stand now waiting for new parts. I will change the rings baring and oil pump just bc it is out. the block came with arp head studs but I think i will use bolts I have run into several people that have had the nuts back off of arp studs.

I dont know alot about efi. the big reason I want to go with a megasquirt is $$ and it is speed density I am sure the flapper door is not good for flow. and can I pigyback a na ecu or just a turbo one?

what sort of oil system upgrades are out there? I plan on useing an oil cooler with a filter adapter. what is a ''full flow oil cooler?

Oil Catch Cans

You can also get a automatic transmission cooler and just hook it in line after the oil filter if you have to oil filter relocation kit.

Personally i found a 1991 toyota cressida with an automatic transmission and Pulled the radiator out of it. A little bigger capacity and has an oil cooler that runs along the bottom of the radiator that i just plugged my oil lines into. Once i go turbo i will have the cooler inline before the turbo oil inlet. The cressida radiator is a bit of a tight fit but not too bad. Install it through the bottom and pull it up and through and reconnect inlet outlet coolant hoses to the radiator, after a complete flush of course.

extra cooling is good. I have a filter adapter. but I want to get a thermostat I think cols oil helped me stack the barrings in the best motor I ever had.
