86.5 MA70 Rebuild

Hey, first post here. So im rebuilding my 86.5 ma70 which should have the 7mge in it. but from what i was told from the previous owner the engine is a JDM engine he swapped out of his buddies 91 JDM spec supra. THe engine has no markings liek the OE 7mge would. It also has yellow top fuel injectors.

It has a small rod knock now. so im tearing into it. its 83mil and i have now a full complete rebuild kit, gaskets, pistons (forged), bearings. Everything for a top to bottom. except rods. the rods in it right now are still very good condition. a quick check at my machine shop and they are straight, true and i even got them ballanced.

I have arp head studs and a cometic head gasket 2 layer now. im no stranger to rebuilding engines or tuneing. and raceing

My thoughts are, if anyone has ideas about this motor and is there anyway of chipping this ecu (like one does to a honda ecu) and tuneing it by laptop. or do i really have to go AEM standalone rout to get anything out of it.

I have the injectors shipped out to RC to get checked and compared and stuff. the whole engine is getting worked over.

No you can't do anything with the ECU.
no reason to if you're doing basically a stock rebuild.

if u want power why not get the 7mgte?
