A GREAT THANK YOU to one and all. It turned out that my son had disconnected the O2 sensor and I had to blow out the EGR modulator and I can now drive as a "nonpolluter". Many thanks to all who posted suggestions and additional information. With an ohmeter, paper clip and my vac guage I can get around the engine issues quite nicely now. I'll come back to visit... still own the darn thing!

So it was in open loop? No stoichio mixture to the cat there eh? Measuring the 02 sensor must have been a surprise. That must be a good cat you have on there to bring the HC and CO down. It was working hard though. This is a classic example of why a new cat should not be used to pass emissions. And the EGR was partially clogged? No wonder NOx was high. Odd it was high with a rich mixture though. Anyway, good show on finding it and thanks for letting us know.
