Just wondering here, do I have to adjust the timing on the turbo mk3? I know it doesn't have a dizzy, so i figured it's like the GM DIS and NEVER needs adjusted. Just wanna make sure.... b/c if so, I'm gonna do it.

so timing has to be tweaked then huh? M'kay. I'm assuming it's the typical toyota set up, warm engine up, jump terminals or whatever and then set it to like 10 or whatever the hood says with a timing light right? what is the timing supposed to be when setting it for a '90turbo? my '94 3vz is 10 degrees of advance.

right. so is setting the base timing like setting it on other cars... jump the terminals in the data link connecotor and then use a timing light to get it set to spec?

According to Supragirl's page timing should still be at 10 degree with the jumper in place. According to the TRSM is supposed to be above 12. Mine is currently above 12 at idle. Anything wrong or updated?

I'll check the repair manual I have. I'm gonna do 10 b/c we run 87 in it and it runs fine, not a hint of detonation. she also never gets the boost gauge past 0.

EDIT: checked my haynes manual. says 12* of base timing on the '89+ 7mgte..at 650rpm. so is that in Neutral or Drive? the 87-88T's call for 10* base timing.

Correct!
With the terminals jumpered Base timming is 10
At this point, it is set. leave it alone. When you remove the jumper the ECU takes over and moves the timming to 12. This is normal, don't mess with the ECU it know what it is doing.

My manual says 10 for the 87-88 trubo, and 12 degrees for the 89-92 turbos. Either way, I checked it today and it was at 9*. So set it to 12.
