from my understanding is that all i would need is the 7mgte motor, the ecu, and the wiring harness from the 87 (my year car) that is turbo?

So using the USA wiring harness and ecu that came in th 87 turbo supra would work?

thank you.

for the wire harness, use whatever wireharness for whatever ECU you have. if you have an 87 ecu, use an 87 wireharness.

it dosnt matter what year your car is. there will be some plugs youll have to splice in, like a few on the water neck and the one for your reverse lights.

im pretty sure an 89+ wire harness will plug into a pre 89 body harness and vice versa.

me for example, i have an 86.5 and an 87 ECU and 87 wireharness. all the motors i have had 2 so far... have been 89+ motors. the ONLY difference is the plugs on the water neck. like 2 or 3 of them. no problem splicing those in. the ignitor, coil packs, everything else use the same plugs for all years.

toyota couldnt have made swapping in the GTE from a GE powered car easier.

i asked a similar question in the 7mge section titled: 1990 N/A to Turbo swap Question , "lagged" you state the once the ecu and the engine harness are the same that minor splicing is needed to get the harnesses to work together ....in my case i have a 90N/A and i just purchased a 87 7MGTE with ecu and harness so should i beable to follow a pin out and jump the body harness and engine harness to let them work together ? "koryed" stated that he is getting a no start situation and also that the ignitions in the vehicles are different in a unspecified way.... and help would be much appreciated

i have some other problems with my 90 na body harness. the po wired the clutch switch and for some reason there are cut wires under the dash behind the center console i am digging to find out what my cut wires are. i also think that my alarm might be causeing a stink too. but i did have a no start problem that was/is related to the ecu not getting power.
also i am confused on the alt fuse in the na its a 1.25b and in the turbo its a 100a. i can't find anything on the differences but i would guess that it might be some of the problem too

The 88 ecu will not plug into the 91 ecu or body harness.

Your better off looking for a 91 harnessw or a buy a new one from dr tweak for 1k.

Ignitor pack, downpipe and exhaust, plugs and coil packs, intercooler and piping, turbo/manifold. There is a lot involved. I went in a few years back thinking it wasn't that big of a deal and I wasted money/time in the process. If you have the turbo engine, you will do yourself and your wallet a huge favor if you have it rebuilt. What are your power goals?
