hhhhmmmmmmmmm 2.7% increase in fuel consumption thats what less than 1 mpg in ideal conditions think I'll pass on $150 for some plugs.

this is just my thinkingbut even if they where some kind of magic ultra super duper spark plugs would you need better coils and wires to take advantage of them?

It's $25.00 for two plugs, so they're only 12.50 each. Now that you know how cheap they are, everyone will be buying them...........:biglaugh:

I want to do some research on the NGK Iridiums. I've heard they're the best you can get. Anybody know about these?

This is quoted from the first link Cedric posted.
Testing in the EPA’s FTP 75 test resulted in a 2.7% increase in fuel efficiency. Internal tests conducted by Enerpulse demonstrated a nearly 9% improvement in fuel efficiency. This test also showed a 7% improvement in torque and a 10.5% improvement in horsepower output over regular spark plugs.

I think these were meant for the 1jz ...............:biglaugh:

I worry about the .045 gap though. I run .020 gap in my plugs.

people have had good luck with them cleaning up idles and upper rpm in 5ms (at least a few) ignition system is pretty adequate in mk2s aswell. consider it performance like a copper plug (maybe a little better) but the longevity of a platinum plug.

1 million watts? Uhm I am wondering how they figure that since W=VxA.... Do they have a capacitor triggered by a spark signal or something? How do they store the power? Standard plug voltage is 40000 to 100000 volts so I guess they are either dramatically increasing the voltage to 500k or increasing the amperage? Either way, the plug is only going to produce as much current as the ignition system provides......

Am I wrong?

Its not like they just "make" more electricity than is produced by the ignition system.

Hey Jay. I put in some Denso Iridiums a few months back. I didn't notice any improvement in fuel consumption or power. I did notice that the idle smoothed out a bit though. Acceleration seemed to be a a little smoother too. I noticed that pre-iridium, my idle would jump around from 675rpm to 750rpm. (According to the safc-2) Post-iridium, the idle stays within 675rpm to 700rpm.
I don't know how accurate the safc-2 is when it comes down to measuring stuff like that though. Was it worth the $75? To me, any improvement, however small is worth the money.
