:icon_surpI am new to supras and this is my first one. I have been working on cars for most of my life; I can navigate my way through cars pretty well. That is why I bought this 1986.5 MKIII supra. I just bought it from some guy who said that he had just swapped the engines over, but was having trouble getting it to run. There was no spark when i bought the car, but after much searching i found that the ECU was bad. I replaced the ECU with a working ECU and then checked for spark. Sadly there is still no spark. I ran through the TSRM and did the step by step troubleshoot. The weird thing is that all the troubleshooting procedures checked out okay. I had power to the coil, the CPS was in correctly, all the plug wires were tight and safe. I mean this thing passed every inspection I could throw at it. Any ideas why I would not have any spark? If it helps the fuel pump doesn't come on either. I have checked all the fuses and they are all in working order. My thoughts are that the ECU doesn't work like it said it did, or the coil pack is doin' somethin' funny.

Any help is appreciated.

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
If changing it didn't help what makes you think the first ECIU was bad?

Is the new engine another GE or a GTE? They control the fuel pump in different ways.

MIL on with key?

Igniter tested and grounded to the chassis?

Well I did a bunch of resistance tests between pins on the original that showed that it was bad, not to mention it kept blowing the IGN fuse.

The new engine is a GTE. The check engine light... Holy CRAP how could i have forgotten to start with the basics:3d_frown:. I'll check it out and let you know.

The igniter works just fine i tested that one in my Dad's 7MGTE when i bought it, but the old man went and sold his.:nono:

I'll have to check the codes, and see what's goin on. I can not believe that i forgot!! Just goes to show that you need to start with at the beginning.
