7MGTE coilpacks on a 1JZGTE

Hi guys

Ive got a set of newish 7MGTE coilpacks will they work with the 1JZ using stock ECU and ignitor? has it been done before. Mine are badly cracked and since there sitting around I can make use of them!

i would say NO they wont work, but i have no hard facts to back this up.

The biggest issue is the 7m is waste spark and the 1jz isn't. So in order to fire the coils at the right times you'd have to connect two 1jz leads to each 7m coil pack. I don't recommend this.

Its a waste to go back to 7M crap.
You can upgrade the ignition from what I hear using the newer 1ZZ COP spark system
Toyota & popular belief is a little confusing.
The 1JZ/2JZ i think technicaly uses COP because the ignitor is seperate.
The Altezza BEAMS engine & 1ZZ uses Direct Fire Iginition but people mix up COP & DFI.

If you use direct fire system you can shit can the old ignitor & wire your ecu directly to the Coil Packs mounted directly on the plug.
