Hello guys I finally found a complete 7MGTE the only thing that was apparently wrong with it was head gasket was gone and consuming Water. Now the engine didn’t have knock or anything I was going to replace the bearings and rings but decided to do that to my spare block………..what is a good way to clean out the working 7M like oil gunk and is it ok for me to take off the bearing caps to check the condition of the bearing and if its good I can just put it back in ?? My father reckons I should just stick it in and let it run to remove the oil gunk build up but is there a better way……

What you could do is get some kerosene and use it to flush the engine...turn it over for a 3-5 minutes with the EFI fuse pulled and the spark plugs removed. Drain the crap and refill with a 5W-20 SuperTech (WalMart) oil and a SuperTech filter. Do the same thing...turn it over for a 3-5 minutes with the EFI fuse pulled and the spark plugs removed. (Make sure you have a well charged battery for all this)

Drain again and change to a SuperTech 5W-30...run this oil a 100 miles or so.

Change the oil again with something a higher quality and a Wix filter. You probably want to use something in the 40W multigrade class...Pennzoil Platinum 5W-40 Euro would be a good choice. -posted by Jdub

i wouldnt stick it in, and yes i would pull the caps too. Although id also rebuild it with oem stuff. A fresh bottom end is good to have around!
