Hi guys im in the process of putting a 7M in a cressida and want to build a reliable engine. I want to run stock pistons and rods for now, I got a cometic head gasket, ARP head studs and clevite bearings. What else do i need to get or do to make decent power and still be reliable?

Thank in advance

Larger injectors, lex afm, larger turbo..... Oh and if you up this stuff then you might want to go ahead and change the pistons and rods. Get the block machined, head work done, and have your crank checked out by the same shop. Also never buy your bearings until the machine shop lets you know if stock size will work or if you will need oversized. I ran into that problem before.

How much power is "decent power"? You can come in right around 300rwhp without doing fuel mods on a 57-trim CT26. Exhaust is going to be a noticeable difference and shouldn't affect reliability at all. In terms of the engine build, if everything checks out in spec and it hasn't been BHG'd or anything, then machining for a MHG and putting ARP hardware on will keep it together nicely. I don't think you have to worry too much about changing pistons, rods, etc until you are looking in excess of 400rwhp.

This all depends on how much you want to spend, what the power goals are, etc.

Thanx for the reply im looking at about 350hp. I will be running a stand alone as we dont get a standard ecu available in South Africa. What brand of injectors do you guys suggest to run? What boost do you run on a 57 trim turbo? Another dum question i hear a lot of guys locally saying that the 7M tends to run bearings why is that? I know asking allot of questions, but any help will be appreciated.

7m spins bearing 3 ways, incorrect bearing clearances, lose of oil, bhg and water getting to the bearings. None of which were because of poor design of the oiling system.

You guys never got turbo cars out there? Can always get a turbo harness and ecu shipped out there.

I suggest pte injectors. If you get the 14mm domestic injectors there about 360 a set for low impedance 55/lb or you can get the 11mm low imp import injectors for roughly 430$ a set.

If your going to run a standalone ditch the stock afm and go map based.

For boost depending on the tune and how the motor is built and compresson might be 12-16psi for when you to hit 350,

Machine both the block and head to 30ra or smoother if your going to use a mhg like comectic. If you dont just use a stock hg.

Id also upgrade the oiling system to a full flow oiling system with remote filter and a t stat.

Thanx for the reply's. Now i just need to build the motor, I see you guys modify the bottom oil pipe do you guys recommend it? or is it only for higher HP engines?
24vtoy thanx I will keep it in mind I have got 2 engines myself one im building now the other one will be rods, pistons, headwork, cams and a Big turbo at a later stage.

No we never got the turbo here or the supra in South Africa. There is a few imports running around but that's it. Thank you for the advice

The stock oil pipe enough for a lot of hp. If anything i would get the arz pipe if your really wanted to.

Personally id feel wierd about the ss hose being there for my oil supply.

Dr tweak does 7mgte to cressida harnesses so it will be plug and play. Ill probably go that route if i get serious about swapping the engine.
