Hey all you Supra Maniacs.... Here is a Good Question for you. I have a friend that Just Completed a 7MGTE Conversion into His 1984 Supra. Problem is, He isnt getting any Spark.

Now this Engien came from a 1987 Supra Turbo with a Automatic Transmission. He pulled the Engine, Rebuild it with about 6,000 in Mods, Installed a (Manual Transmission) and get it into the car. My Question is Since the car was a Automatic and he Changed to a Manual, Does he have to change the Wiring Harness and the ECU. He is getting a Code 51 which has something to do with the Meutral Saftey Switch. Im guessing that the Engine is thinking its not in Park therefor will not start up.

Could use some help with this on what he needs to do.

Need to bypass the neutral safety switch....super easy from what I've read in the last two minutes (did a search on SF ;) )

As for bypassing the neutral safety switch... haha... I feel bad for the many people who have paid someone to bypass this..... I can give you a REALLY easy tip around this.... There's three harness connectors on the Auto... look for the one that is round and has three wires running in it, a BLACK wire, a WHITE wire, and a BLUE wire.... Cut that plug off the tranny with some wire to spare.... Take the WHITE and the BLACK wire and splice them together... Plug that connector into the harness side in the car.... Your ECT ECU will now think your car is in park all the time and it will start right up. Too easy.

Well, I did offer a possible solution and even had an explanatory quote from one of those threads. :dunno:

Next question, how do you get the auto harness reverse lights and ABS to work on a 5spd car? Like don't I have to rewire the damn thing? How? Any genius out there?

Hey all. Here is a Contiuation Question to the Thread. Its been 4 Months now since my friend has had this Problem, He decided to Replace the ECU and the Automatic Harness and Installed a Manual Harness and a Manual ECU. Still the same thing, Great turnover Power but no Spark. We checked the codes and he is getting a Code 12 (RPM Signal) and code 51 (Neutral Safety Switch) Now since we changed the wiring harness to a Manual, Why are we still getting this code or is there another place that needs to be jumpered in order for this car to start.

Thank you all for your help

I converted my auto to manual and just had to jump a cupple wires over to bypass the neutral start switch and splice into the reverse lights.Had no problems there.rpm has something to do with the cps?Is your ignitor module hot/warm/getting power. Is your timing correct? Not sure if this can help but good luck.
ps are all the plugs clipped together?

to bypass the neutral safety switch on the AUTO harness (I see he's switched to a manual one now, and i don't know what to say about how to fix that) there is 4 plugs that go the the tranny, one is a round plug with 3 wires, white, black, and blue, just splice the white abnd black together (using the tranny side of the harness is best so you don't have to cut up the engine harness). to make reverse lights work, use the blue wire from that plug and there is a 6 wire round plug, all you need is the black one from there; use the blue and black to connect to the 2 wire plug coming off the manual transmission.

Everything is correct. I also did a 7MGTE swap in my 84 Supa. The only Difference in the Swaps is that my car was a manual and the engine that I swapped into it was a manual. His car is a 85 supra that is a Manual and he swapped a engine into it that was a Auto. Everything is connected Exactly the way my car is hooked up.

We have changed the Ignitor, CPS, TPS, Coil, and Wiring Harness but still isnt getting any spark. We have Resistance between the Ignitor and the Coil and everything has power.

Im going to check and see if there is fuel going up to the engine. My Question is that if Its a Manual Harness and a Manual Transmission.....

WHY AM I STILL GETTING A CODE 51 WHEN A CODE 51 DEALS WITH A AUTOMATIC TRANNY, NOT A MANUAL :icon_mad: :icon_mad: :icon_mad:
