Background: 1988 Toyota Supra
(new shortblock with wiseco pistons, upgraded 57 trim CT26, 550 cc injectors, Lexus AFM, AEM UEGO Wideband, HKS EVC-2 Boost controller, AEM AFPR (DM), HKS 3" catback Exhaust, Raptor DDP)

Okay... ran across some problems with my build and just want a little input or confirmation to my thinking.

Got the Raptor Racing DDP and when bolted on is tight to the heat shield where the flex pipe is (flex pipe is a bit larger than the 3" pipe itself). Not wanting to change my speedo cable routing, the shop wrapped the cable with heat shielding tape and removed the flex pipe (which now sits perfect).

so.. question 1 - Its a rear wheel drive, I dont think I should have any issues with not having the flex pipe in that section. The hangers should absorb any kind of vibration so I should have no worries. The car is a street car, no track duty.

Second thing is that I got a used throttle cable linkage and this one wont work either. My original one has the nylong ring that is on the inside of the lower throttle lever wore totally out, so I am concerned it may stick at some point in WOT position.. (just a possibility I would like to avoid). I bought another one from a member on this sight, but while the lower leve is fine, the upper level is worn out. So.. 2 dead throttle linkages and they are obsolete (couldn't find a new one, although ideally that is what I would want). These cant be rebuilt because it looks like the used a "rivet" style center post (no screws).

so.. question 2 - any suggestions on how I can fix that? I think I can adapt the Camry ones, or am I better just hunting until I find another that is in very good shape? I have time on that issue...

Tossing out my K&N filter and going to a stock paper style OEM filter on the car now. I haven't found any compelling reason to leave the K&N on the car and the thought of an oiled filter in front of a very sensitive AFM just seems wrong to me (I read lots of arguments about it, but have found nothing conclusive). Again.. its a street driver, so if I lose 1-2 HP... I wont notice it. I just dont believe it will have any effect.

Good, thank you for confirming it was okay because I was looking at it and thought that it wasn't really necessary. Removing it makes a very nice routing underneath. Fairly certain the HKS 3" DP has no flex either (which was my originaly route, although I believe the Raptor DDP is a lot better thought out.)
