7mge with 7mgte rebuild kit???

hi well im new to all this supra thing i bought a 88 supra targa top 7mge... it was really cheap and i love how this cars look.... but anyway here is my problem the car runs OK for the year but at HIGH RPM i can hear the engine knocking... so i was planning in rebuilt the 7mge but i was looking for rebuild kits in websites and stuff and i saw the 7mge and 7mgte rebuild kit cost almost the same and was wondering if i can rebuild it with a 7mgte rebuild kit or if its gunna mess something up in the engine i know a lot of u guys are experts and know pretty much everything so i hope one of u guys can help me with this... i will really appreciate the help thanks... by the way im planning in doing a 2jz swap i just want the engine to be running in his best while i get the engine , parts, upgrades and save money

You would want to do the ge rebuild kit. If you do the gte and it comes with pistons itll be lower compression which will cause the car to have less power.

Now if you plan to turbo charge the car the lower compression isn't a bad idea, but you will have low power until you turbo the car.

Really shouldn't need to change pistons in a ge unless the piston to wall clearance is excessive.

Other wise just use ge pistons. Everything else is basically the same but just stick to the ge set.
