7mge oil drainage?

I have a 7mge, and on the front bottom timing plate (behind the balancer) at the bottom side of the plate is a small hole, about the size of a pinky nail.

What is the hole for? I changed the oil and filter and upon topping it off the fresh oil started draining out of that hole. Is it suppose to do that?

Or are my gaskets/seals under the cover leaking? The hole looks to be there on purpose, doesn't look like a break/etc.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow, thanks guys.

EDIT: When the car is running, it doesnt appear to be leaking.

What causes it to leak like that? I'm not debating, I just changed the gaskets and noticed the front crank seal was bent a little bit, like it was hit too hard when it was seated, but I figured I'd leave it for now. It doesn't leak while the car is running or at all for that matter. It only leaked when topping off the oil.

How exactly does the weep hole work?

It's just a hole in the bottom of the cover, if oil starts leaking within the cover you will be able to see if via tho hole, rather than it leaking internally on the belt and you never knowing about it. If you have oil there after topping off, you probably spilled oil while you were filling, otherwise there are a few seals that can cause an oil leak there.

Also there are a couple of places you are suppost to put FIPG i.e. corners of the valve cover gaskets and two areas when the HG is changed.

Pull off the bottom timing cover and see whats leaking, if anything. Could be oil that you spilled while filling up. Clean it, start up the engine and watch for a leak.
