Got a question...

pulling the engine from my 87 Supra and just finished a battle (and the car is winning so far)..
The 3 stud bolts are removed and I can move the exhaust up and down on the studs about 1/8th inch, but cant pull the exhaust off. Tried wedging, hammering, etc.. and cant do it. Is there something I am missing? (7MGE exhaust removal from manifold)

There's normally a mount holding it to the trans. Sure you have that undone?

Might have to take a mount or 2 off from the rest of the exhaust.

And iirc I thought the was a mount right there that bolted to the trans/engine maybe?

Edit: beat to it.

Yeah, there is one right near the flange that is bolted to the transmission. I removed that. There is also some bolts holding on what looks like a shield, but its not connected to anything. I have the bands holding the pipe to the car off all the way to the diff area.
Its really puzzling because I have ran my hands around everything to make sure there isn't anything hidden attached to the car, but it looks free and clear. Was hoping it was a common issue.. its not binding on the studs either, which is what really puzzled me.

I may have to pull the manifold to get it off and then do the.. "oh... thats why"... lol.

You should be able to get it off without taking off the manifold. Before doing that, I'd take it off from the rear, section by section. If the rear is still in the hangers it can be really tough to move the front section very well. If you're hangers are in good shape, they wont allow much movement at all.

the hangers are really strong still, so that may be what is causing it. I will go with this recommendation and see what happens. Probably when i release the muffler it will drop for me, It may be the angle that it has to come off because the only real place that has any decent corrosion is the back of the muffler (that faces the front of the car) Everything else is in pretty damn nice shape for an original exhaust on a 25 year old car.

Careful when it does drop that it doesn't hit you in the face... that's never fun. ;)

I had the same issue with the muffler on my 88, until the piping going into the back of the muffler finally just rotted away and dropped the muffler on the friend who was driving my car at the time.
