well besides my supra, i have a Cressida (MX73) and i'm trying to build a 6MGE for it =) well i was curiours if anyone knew much abotu this engine. i'm told its "pretty much" the 5MGE head with 7MGE bottom. well is this true? if it is can't i use 7M parts? i'm not finding any connecting rods for the "6MGE"...and if this is true can't i just use the rods that are for the "7MGE"... yeah? know?

yes you can use 7m-gte crank/rods for a large upgrade over the standard items! combined with 5m-ge pistons you get a high compression engine, so add some ebay larger valves and some cams your good to go! you may want to get a decent map based ecu to run it for best results.

yeah i know i can put the 7M in there, but then

1) many cressy owners do that, not many 6M's out there anymore.
2) everytime i get pulled over in my cressy, they try to say my 5M isnt' stock, and the 6M and the 5M look nearly identical on the outside.
3) the 6M wires up, easiest swap ever, maybe even easier than a B18 in a civic! lol

and yeah haha i derno i just want the 6M! haha =P the head work i might get done by rabid chimp. their price is reasonable, it's all aruond the same getting it done by the local machine shop plus parts =) so i might as well get it done by a shop that has done work on this exact head before, i feel more at ease.

yessir allan is right from what Ive found, did a whole bunch of searching on a mk2 board when I was researching clutches for my w58. I think even the manifolds for the 7m will bolt up to the 6m head if im remembering right, I am a lil tipsy right now, hehe

hrm i was just thinking about something, lol oh and i'm a bit tipsy myself! BBQ AND BOOS! YEAH! lol

well anyways...

if the 6MGE is just a 5M top with 7M bottom, wouldn't it be cheaper to say build this myself...? instead of buying a used JDM one then building it. and instead of the 7MGE bottom, use a 7MGTE? possible yes?

lol i know weird how i'm asking these questions on a MK3 board and not a cressy board, but sadly the cressy forum is as nice and helpful as this forum is haha interms of overall friendliness this is the best online forum i've been part of. this and club4ag, until it blew up.

well where was i haha yeah, and if the manifolds match up, oh man! a Ron Ramirez FF intake manifold would be sexy lol =) but then again it defeats my purpose of making it look close to stock lol but that shouldn't interrupt smog right? so it should still be ok lol -_^ anyways time to check on the chicken haha

7M-GE in a Cressie (MX73). That's what I'm planning to do. I'll let you know how it goes! Prepare to wait a few months though...

If the head is good on your 5m-ge micky a stealth 6m (use that 7m-ge crank and rods in your block with new 5m pistons) in a 5m block saves a few hassles and is cheaper then a 7m rebuild and 5m-ge hot-up stuff is cheaper (IE larger valves off ebay) ;)

7M crank in 5M block requires machining does it not? For the con rods to clear the bottom of the cylinders I think? And then the harmonic balancer...

correct me if I'm wrong :)
