I have seen both engines perform. Yet the Ijz is much more work unless importing a car. So from ownership or research what makes one better than the other? (Not specs, just modded hp and torque numbers.)

You should really do a search on this because it has already been covered numerous times and you won't ever get an agreed upon consensus.

1JZ is great - only if you are willing to put uber amounts of time or money into swapping it in. Then to get power you have to pour in even more money into it.

7MGTE is also great, bottom end can do 600 hp before something starts to break. Rebuild with quailty materials and you will have a beast of an engine.

No matter which one is cheaper, better, whatever... 7M is factory flawed in more than 1 aspect, it seems to me from what I've researched. 1JZ isn't factory flawed at all, kinda. At least you'd have that piece of mind with it. :p

Swap a 2JZ. *ahem*

HP per Dollar per Effort, I think the 7m is the way to go. But then again I only care about brutal horsepower per dollar. I wouldnt poo poo either one I just came across a cheep 7MGTE first.

really?

Somehow with the comment you made about shitty mechanics where you live, i can see why you "THINK" that ;)

BTW my car ran fine up to 120,000 miles before I swapped the HG. Not because it blew but because I knew I was going to crank to boost knob up.
