7M-GE/2JZ-GE interchangeability?

Hi all, at my local junkyard is a Lexus GS300 with an (almost complete) 2JZ-GE. Without completely ripping apart the engine, it looks like the cams and intake manifold (upper/lower) are intact and in good condition.

Would either of these parts, or any part from within the engine, be compatible with my 7M-GE?

I would just buy the engine and rebuild it as a turbo, but I really don't have the money for that right now with me starting college and all.

I apologize if any of this is confusing or if it is in the wrong section. (Would this fit better into the "other engine tech" section?)

Thanks

No, none of the parts are interchangeable. The layout of the exhaust and intake ports of the head are different, so you can't use either manifolds. The injectors use a different harness clip, although I don't know if the impedance or flow are the same. Cams won't work, either, as the spacing of the valve train is different. So, pretty much, the answer to your question is no, the parts are not interchangeable. You could get the harness, computer, trans. and engine and do a swap, with a bit of ingenuity.

You could pull the motor out and part it out to make a few $$. But that depends on how much the junk yard is going to charge you.

they said 200 on normal days. 100 on wed (its a pick n pull, every wed is half price)

the parting out idea is good, ill take that into consideration

The only thing a "M" & "JZ" have in common is
They both came in supras
They both use liquid mounts after 89
They both use the W58 (N/A) models
They both use A340(auto)
They both use the R154(1JZ Turbo models)

So I've been doing some thinking, and reading on here/other forums. Would it be worth it to pull the 2JZGE out w/ all components for a swap (only missing intake/maf, headers, exhaust last time i checked)? For that price it's almost too good to be true. It's VVTi if that makes any difference.

Also, if I get it, will my A340E bolt onto the 2JZ?

Thanks a bunch

I come from a land down under
Jz's DIDN'T use a 340 ;)

It's a 341 or 343, bellhousing is different and it has full electronic control without the cable line pressure up of the 340.

Torque converter spline count is different as well.

crap. If I found a W58, would it have to be from a 2JZ or could I use one that came with a 7M? I know I would need a 1JZ bellhousing for that to work. I'm not too familiar with manuals or their associated parts...

where can you see the #on the transmission i actually have all of them in my garage right now hehe, one from a 7mge two from 1jz's and two from aristo 2jz's

and moy it would only be easier if you have a mkiii w58 and any n/a JZ bellhousing.. if you really want to use a w58 ;p

I believe that the vvti have weaker rods in it than the none vvti. I am not sure but it might be a little harder of a swap because of the electronics of the vvti but don't quote me let some of the more experince guys tell u. I know most of us use a non vvti motor to swap in our supras.

You can run the 2jzge off the 7mge harness and ECU, a guy on here (think his SN is GeneWindstar) did it a while back.

I'd use a w58 or a r154, whatever I could find that's a full swap at a reasonable price.

And with the wiring harness/ ecu, that's something that makes me very happy to know =D

I would not want to have to deal with re-wiring everything because I have absolutely no knowledge what-so-ever in that area.
