Starting to research and preparing to do a 7m build. I have almost everything figured out except the oiling system upgrades. I've researched and read a lot and will read some more but am debating using ge block vs gte block and once I'm sure then i can move on. I have both a ge block and gte block so availability is not a issue. My goals are 400whp. So my questions are; Are oil squirters that important and necessary? Is a oil cooler a must have on a 7m? Is it easy to tap in the oil lines that feed the turbo on a ge block? Also i understand to some extent but not fully that the gte uses a useless oil cooler system that feeds/bleeds pressure to the pan rather then the sending it back through pressurized. Would it be easier to to use a ge block with a oil filter relocation adapter and then run the oil through the filter then to the cooler then back to the adapter? Does the oil cooler need to be thermostatically controlled? Here a the mods that I'm sure I'll be doing concerning the oil system shimmed pump and Az oil pump pipe. Any input is appreciated and I want to upgrade the system properly but don't want to go over board and super complex elaborate system what i want is what the 7m should have came with that will last. Thanks in advance

the 7m doesnt have oiling "issues" at all! what it does have is too small of an oil pan for the size of engine when car is being used for autox or drifting etc...anything that makes the car pull high G force in different directions...

squirters are not needed but highly recommended....stick with the gte block and keep the squirters is all i can tell you...id go into much more detail but honestly this topic is covered all the time and we have a section in this forum dedicated to exactly this issue....

here are some links you should read and understand...these will help you pump more oil to important parts while maintaining a healthy engine that will last!

for oil squirters....cost about $20 each from toyota to replace

oiling in general
http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?31378-Ways-to-cure-7M-oiling-issues

oil cooler...which is VERY VERY IMPORTANT IN A BOOSTED OR NA ENGINE THAT IS PUSHED TO ITS LIMITS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS...this mod will boost oil pressure ALOT by itself as it completely removes a major pressure loss system!

useing the na block will be more pain in the ass then its worth and there is a reason that toyota puts these oil systems in the turbo car....yes the group a cars used na blocks but they were dedicated race cars for the most part and were torn apart and inspected constantly....the made the sacrifice of durability for power which isnt a smart move unless you are made of money.

the only real mod that a 7m could use for its oil system is a crank scraper and a lager oil pan with better baffles! everything else is personal choice...although the stock oil cooler system is fucking retarded, although its better than nothing at all!

the az pump pipe is nice an all but honestly its a waste of money also....upgraded supra iirc is laying down 800+ hp and he still rocks the stock pipe....do what you wanna do but the links i gave you cover everything you ask and will all bump your oil pressure up ALOT without useing a ge block.
