I know this topic has been covered before but I am starting to collect parts for a five spd swap, and I have some questions.

-Do I need a ecu from a five speed car or no?

-Do I need a drive shaft and lsd out of a 5-spd?(what are the advantages or disadvantages?)

-Could I have a parts list from someone who has personally done the swap? please

I know this has been covered but I am asking for some help please.

Thanks,
Steve

you will need the driveshaft, the ECU isnt a necessity you COULD use your auto ecu.

If you do indeed use the 5spd ecu you will need a new harness as well.

i just bought a 92 parts car and im going to be doing a 5spd swap myself.
Is there any major cutting/drilling involved, do you have to remove the dash or carpet? Someone got a writeup on this process?

you don't need a 5spd ecu, I don't have one in my car. You would need it if you wanted to retain cruise control and neutral start (clutch pedal has to be pushed in to start the car).

I just did a list of parts for somebody else on this website so you should definately use the search, because the info IS out there.

There will be minor wiring involved (just to get the car to start) and you have to wire up the backup lights (2 wires) I don't remember the colors and stuff but I"m sure you can find it.

Master cylinder, slave cylinder, hard line, soft line, clutch (disk and pressure plate), clutch fork w/bolt, flywheel w/bolts, tranny brackets, driveshaft, clutch pedal, 5spd brake pedal, transmission, shifter, shifter boots (2 rubber and 1 leather I think), the screws to hold the shifter in. I would suggest the "green truck shifter bushing" and the white one at the bottom of the 5spd stick (I would suggest lubing them both). < Not needed, just makes the shift feel more crisp and gets rid of freeplay in the stick.

The only difficult part is the wiring, and I don't remember that, everything else just goes in it's spot...read the tsrm.

the lsd's are the same regardless of automatic or 5spd....rundown
N/A without sport package had a non-lsd 4.30 (you don't want it)
N/A sport package had 4.30 lsd
turbo 87-89 had 3.91 lsd
turbo 89-92 had 3.73 lsd

any lsd tranny will work, mixing up different tranny's with different speedo drive gears and different differentials will screw up your speedo so...try to get a speedo gear that matches the diff.....it's complicated....sorta
