47 people incarcerated in a plane for nine hours (What if it happened to you)

Trapped in a plane for over 9 hours. What if it happened to you. When I heard and read this story it just pissed me off. Have we become so spineless, so afraid of the rule of law in the USA that 47 citizens would allow themselves to be held hostage, incarcerated, jailed against their wills on a commercial airline. I myself believe that I would have done just about anything to get off a plane with my family. The world must be laughing.

Sad thing is if they would have caused a scene, they would have been treated as if they were attempting to hijack the plane and get life in prison or something completely retarded...

The problem is that people no longer think. They open a book of codes and rules, read what it says, and do that instead. If someone had stopped to think "hey, let's just deal with this situation by thinking about it"... it all would have been fine.

Generally I don't pack anything I can't live without into the cargo hold. I'd have walked off and fended for myself by renting a car, taking a bus, whatever.

Mental distress from what? Being stuck on a plane? If you dont want to run the risk of being stuck, then dont fly.. Its simple..

Im going to lock you in your supra, with a camping toilet.

You're not allowed to leave for 9 hours.

Your mechanic may come and remove what ever he/she wants out of the car, as long as its not the toilet, garbage, or any thing to make you more happy in your stay.

To lock me up in any thing, for 9 hours, with out fresh or at least cooling / circulating air, smelling toilets, and lack of food and or water - all while the crew comes and goes as they wish?

And you give me the bullshit "don't like it don't fly" line?

Gonna have to try harder than that honey.

I've flown to Tokyo. 18 hours each way. I was provided a clean toilet, circulating air, and at least water. No mental distress there.

As for the plane in question from the OP.....

Mental distress for 9 hours AGAINST MY WILL? You bet.

People have this false sense of nothing can go wrong when they fly.. I was stuck on a plane for almost as long on the tarmac in Frankfurt Germany when I was 7 months pregnant.. It didnt bother me.. I had just got to Munich after an 11 hour flight from Portland, Oregon..

And dont cop an attitude with me, "honey".. I was making a general statement about people that dont like to fly that pull that shit.. Dont want to take the risk, dont fly.. its simple..

And you flew to Japan.. would you like a gold star?

Letting the passengers stay in the airport terminal "wasn't an option,"

Why the hell not?

I seen where security personel had left... maybe they picked up explosives/guns/knives/whatever while on board the plane...?

SA, your argument is totally irrelevant.

If you're flying somewhere it's a different story, you're in motion and going to where you're going.

But to be stuck in a cell for 9 hours with overflowing toilets and no food is mentally degenerating and could be considered abuse.

I'm sure when you were stuck in Frankfurt, you had received food and no overflowing toilets. Studies show food makes you less worried. And overflowing toilets will cause people to be sick.....

There is serious lack of common sense and decency. If the toilets were backed up and overflowing as reported you run the risk of infecting everyone on the plane (aka the Sardine Can) with viral, bacterial meningitis, Ecoli, Salmonella, Cryptosporidiosis in a closed and cramped environment. You can't pass out blankets on a plane because of the H1N1 flu virus but human waste is allowed. I bet you couldn't put 47 prisoners of the state under the same conditions. It would be against the law and / or possibly violate their civil rights.

I think that in a case like that, exercising free speech and getting a bunch of other angry passengers together to demand release from this hostage situation would not be out of the question.
I can't say what I would do in this situation, but I am sure that police and a lawyer, and possibly the local news would be called promptly.
The aircraft crew would have a hard time telling me to turn off my cell phone when there is no reason [ie: will not tamper with navigational instruments since they obviously aren't going anywhere!]

No no...FUCK that! Those people PAID for a service....instead of getting said service they were held in the plan against there will for 9 hours....yeah shit happens but this wasn't normal air traffic stuff this was something else that "doesn't" happen!!! I'm not paying to be drilled and held against my will...I'm paying to get from point a to point b!

I'm not sucking it up, I'm not "getting used to it", I'm not going to bend over and take it in the ass....if that's what you do then fine but I personally am not a pussy and tend to speak out when something is wrong!

Damnit I'm not done! This pisses me off!

I personally got banned from supramania for calling DT a cunt as well as other things because of a thread made about you! I got banned for sticking up for you....I got banned for doing what I thought was right....I now instantly regret that decision! You should indeed be infracted every time you bitch about your size and or whatever as you should "a suck it up" "b do something about it"!

I just now feel like a huge douche nozzel for bitching at DT well over a year ago!
