4 puck, 6 puck or street disk? What would you go with?

IMHO I would go with a Street(> Stage 3) style clutch.

My hp goals are fairly modest(450 rwhp) and my Supra will be used mainly as a weekend cruiser when it's 'finished'. I just don't want my leg to get too tired running down 75 to the beach.

Think I'm going to go with an ACT HD and a full face feramic when I get a new clutch this spring. I thought I read that you were going feramic as well and HPF says even the full face will hold something like 700+ with the ACT HD/RPS 3200.

I want it to be as streetable as is within reason for the amount of power I want to make. Which isn't quite as much as you but still not a small amount.

Yeah, I have no experience with either, but I know the full face disks are typically smoother engaging and a bit more slippable, and with the feramics being fairly slippable to begin with (from what we've all herd) I imagine the full face would be very street friendly. But I only want to hold 600rwhp MAX, which should be easily handled by the full face/ACT HD.

i have a ceramic 6 puck, chattered at first, but now drives like stock, just a little more "grabby". i dont know if i got used to the disk, or if it stopped chattering because its broken in.

I'm going with a street disk. I picked a Spec II because it will handle my goal (425 hp) and not wear out my leg while driving. If I decide to do more power later, another disc won't cost that much.

RPS Maxx Plate with a HPF Full face Disc would make a good combo.

ok

the street disc is good as it applies the pressure to 360 degre of the face of the clutch itself meaning the load is dispersed evenly.

with a 6 puck clutch the force is concentrated at those 6 point making engagment harsher. WIth a 4 puck clutch the harshness is amplified even more :)

Reign-Maker you have PM.

Thanks guys... Oh, and I dunno how much he paid, but I have a feeling I'll be spending well over $1000 for clutch, pp and flywheel... :(

I got my ACT stage3 6-puck on Ebay $500 to my house new, then $300 Fidanza fly to my house new(flywheel wheighs 11pds) I love my whole set up. Littlehard to get used to at first because all your car wants to do is stop or haul ass not much feathering with this set up. I also added in a steel braided clutch line. Might as well since everything else under my car was new. Later- T

I come from a land down under
Puck clutches have more load per square inch with the same PP pressure than a full face clutch, it's a trade off though as you have less surface are to provide friction.

The Puck will engage and lock up harder on a dump launch but if slipped will cook up whereas a full face will engage gentler and endure a lot more slipping before it cooks.

Guess it all comes down to what you're using the car for, I went full face Twin as I'm not a drag racer and will never have enough traction to need a puck clutch.

No, feramic is actually correct. Look at HPF and they have a full line up of clutches. I'm installing the HPF 6 puck bronze disk w/ ACT PP and the Mueller LW flywheel. The downside of the feramic is a lightweight flywheel is not recommended if you wanted to use one. I'll have my RPS 6 puck MAXX clutch and matched factory flywheel for sale soon if anyone is interested...:)
