Ok, so many of you know that I was trying to sell my 89 2JZ Supra. Well, that didn't workout, so I decided to keep it. I was debating on wether i should try to sell it again at a loss so i can try to get a G35, which means a $500/month car payment. Or put the necessary $3k into it to complete it. In it's current state it runs, but not well. It has cooling issues and boost issues. So I have put together a list of parts i will get when i get back from deployment. Here it goes:

KOYO Radiator
LIPP Radiator block off plate
Fan Shroud from Driftmotion
MKIV Mechanical Fan
Driftmotion T-66 Turbo
Tial 38mm Wastegate with 1 bar spring
Driftmotion 1JZ Intercooler (24x9x3)
Driftmotion Greddy style BOV
MVPmotorsports Turbo Blanket heat shield
HKS Dragger Exhaust
Walbro Fuel Pump (one of them died, running off of one right now, gotta get it back to dual feed!)

Eventually once i get the coilovers installed, i want to get big brake kits for front and rear. it seems i will be going with wilwood.

All this should put me at the 500+ HP i want. I already have the fuel system and drivetrain to support it. Eventually i will upgrade the suspension to the Megan coilovers and upgrade the brakes. I will have $3k to get it in perfect running state. With so many radiator options out there, i'd like to get some feed back on what you guys have and how well it works.

My buddies have a new EVO and an 06' STi. I know i can smoke them out of the water in power, but they got me in handling. I can't wait to get rid of this crappy 20 year old NA suspension.

i'm gonna polish the valve covers and the intake manifold and paint the coil cover white with either red or silver letters... should look hot!!!!

I definitely recommend the Koyo radiator, I have it and love it. Also I'd recommend sticking with the stock clutch fan and a fan shroud, it will work better than almost any electric fan setup you'd be able to put on your car.

And my last recommendation... Get a real Tial 44mm wastegate, its ~250 more than the driftmotion one, but the wastegate is SOOOO important, why cheap out on it? You already have so much money in the car so its not worth it to save the 250 and get the cheaper quality wastegate.

i don't know what i need to use a mechanical fan. can i use my 7M assembly?
cause i found i can get a new shroud and get a new fan, i guess i'd be good to go.

is the Koyo a pretty good fit? is there enough room to run a mechanical fan? space seems to be very tight, especially getting a thicker radiator. i already have the silicone hoses, will i need to modify them to fit the new rad. or should i buy new hoses?

Koyo here as well.

Have to plug the temp sensor bung, trim the lower radiator rubber mounts, and fabricate some lower mounts for the shroud and a way to mount the bottom of the aux. fans.

Once that's done it's great and IMHO looks the best.

Negative, You need MKIV Waterpump, and clutch fan, and then the actual MKIV fan, the fan shroud(quiet important) is the stock one, I'm using my NA shroud. I cut it at the bottom and at the top so I could get it into place, then ziptied the fk out of it.:biglaugh: Zipties FTMFW!

BTW Good to hear you are keeping this.

I sounds like the classic 0-30 mph EVO race is starting to piss off a couple supra owners. Next time they pull up next to you at the red light, Let him lanch and you just sit there and drive like a normal 80 year old would, he will feel like an ass.

0-30 mph huh...... i'm thinkin 0-150 !!!!!!

ok, so i already have the water pump installed. do you think i should get the 2 small electric fans too? i think i threw mine out.

i'm gettin pretty excited about this. my buddy took me for a drive and it did feel pretty nice. suspension felt tight. the power kinda felt like my 7MGTE did on a good day. can't wait to get this 2JZ running good. though my car is much older, it is also much cheaper to get 500hp out of. considering the monthly payment for their cars vs mine is MINE.

I don't think a EVO will even go 150 mph. LOL. That's why they only race up to 30 MPH in first gear. A race needs to be the whole 1/4 mile ;)

with the clutch i have, it kinda launches the car pretty hard, so maybe i can get a jump on him with that. hopefully the turbo lag isn't too bad.

* can i see some pics of your Koyo, PWR or any other aftermarket radiators you got, installed in the car. i'm worried about fitment issues. *

I have seen a Koyo just fit 1/4 to 1/2in clearance with a MKIV fan. I think the PWR is a thicker core and will give you some issues.

Jeremy

p.s. I have a koyo and am very happy with the quality.

You're going to have a hard time getting the jump on him, but all it will do is give him false hope.......you will eventually pass him.

now, i know this may be a little far from reality, but this is how i'm hoping mine will be someday. he's got 611 hp.

*has anyone ever bought leather seat covers from leatherseats.com ? i'd like to completely redo the interior. i need to replace the cracked dash and some other pieces. i'd like to have a gray interior with black leather seats and black carpet. oh yeah, where was that place that made new carpet for the MK3? one more thing, how can i get ahold of the aluminum piece that fills in the hole over the intercooler hood latch area? i'll try to find some pics of it. i also need to find some high quality coolant line caps. the ones at the auto stores are crap and can't handle the extreme conditions, thus resulting in a huge coolant leak leaving me stranded.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k32ZiMtI1k

where can i get the piece that covers this area in the white circle?

*using my old 87 i sold, as an example... i miss her :(*

good to see you're keeping the supra and fixing everything. we'll have to get together soon once my supra is up and running, which should be soon. you can get those intercooler/radiator block off plates at 935motorsports or suprasport.
