What is the difference between the two motors besides the pistons and the fact that one has a turbo. If I took 2jge block and crank and put 2jzgte pistons and rods in it would it be the same motor.

The major difference is that the GTE motor has oil sprayers build into the block to spray the bottom of the pistons that the GE does not.

This makes a large difference in piston crown temps when running high boost.

Also, the GTE also has the oil feeds (two) & returns (two) for the stock twin turbos. The GE block does not have them.

The block is NOT a different size, nor is there any difference between the cranks. Just the rods & pistons. The head is VERY different.

I dont think the rods are different Mike.... But you might know something I dont.

No, actually you are correct. I'm just so used to replacing rods & pistons as a set, I said it incorrectly.

The pistons are different, the rods are the same.

so could you in anyway make a ge block into a gte block or at least close if only close how close what would the diffences be.

Will you use some punctuation?

Well if you look at SupraCentrals post and change all of the things he said were different, you'd have the same motor as a GTE then. The block at least...

If you want a GTE motor, why not just buy a GTE then?... or go with an NA-T kit for the GE.
