Hopefully this thread will help a lot of people and answer a lot of questions you may have. This info is particularly helpful to those who have Pre 89 Turbo 5spd R154.

* even though many people swapped 2JZ's in their mk3, when people ask questions no one has a definite answer. i have working proof of what you need. when i started this project, there were so many questions left unanswered. the mechanics of the task isn't too bad. it's just knowing what to get to make it work. The electrical part however, is a whole nother story.*

*here's a video of it idleing*

My car is an 87 Turbo 5spd. I used the 2JZ from an Automatic Aristo. As most will.

Here's a parts list for what I had to purchase to make it work:

*as drunk medic said below, prices would be nice, so here goes*
2JZ-GTE From Aristo...................$2100
BIC Motor Mounts........................$180
1JZ Lightweight Flywheel..............$310
7M Spec Stage 3 clutch kit...........$475
1JZ ARP Flywheel Bolts..................$30
1JZ Bellhousing...........................$320
94 MK4 Mid Sump Oil Pan..............$550
94 MK4 Throttle Cable (worked perfect for me).....$65
Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump...........$110
Single turbo Exhaust Manifold (only if you don't want to modify firewall)......$160
1JZ Power Steering Hose.............$100
Aermotive Fuel Pressure Regulator.$140
94 MK4 Water Pump (if you don't want the hydro setup)....$150
94 MK4 Pulley kit.......................$70
Wideband 02............................$280

*i ended up extending the harness. i did 2 1/2 feet. which was too much. 18" would probably be best. there are some shielded wires, so cut after them. only do 1 wire at a time. there are many wires that are the same color.the ecu and all the extra wiring fit in the glove box, i locked the box so no one can open it, it's a little pain to close. what i ened up doing with the E10A plug was using pins from the 7M harness and soldering wires to them and pluging themin to the ecu. then i hot glued them in to secure them. *

If you want the 550cc fuel injectors, you can use the 7M resistor pack. If you get the 550cc injectors, you have to modify the clips because they are different. Also if you are getting rid of the AC pump, you can use the stock belt, you just have to re-route it. You need to use the oil pressure unit from your 7M. You need to extend the unit away from the block. You may be able to use the stock upper radiator hose from your 7M. Mine worked perfect for me. As far as the lower, my 2JZ came with the lower hose, which actually works pretty good. You can also use the heater hose from your 7M that goes to back of the head. I also used my 7M power steering reservoir

If you do go single turbo, the oil plug on the block is 12mm x 1.25. You can get an adapter from summit racing.

As far as the wiring goes. It was easier for me to tape up wiring diagrams of my engine harness and of a 94 MK4. That way you can trace wires and see where they came from and where they go. As well as wire colors. I recommend not cutting any wires from your 7M harness. You can use it to trace wires and get a better idea of how to hook up the 2JZ ECU. But some stuff you will need from it.

I think this is the one I used. Search before you use this diagram

The finished product. I spent about $6,500 total.

Please, if anybody has any info that will be useful to others, post it. I can't remember everything I had to do so some stuff might be left out. I started this project in March, so it's been a little while.

Whenever people do this swap, it seems that they like to show the end product and numbers, and the basics that "everyone" knows, but you don't see too much about how the person got to the end product, prices or extra parts and difficulties encountered. It's been a little while since someone has put forth real documentation on this swap. Thanks for adding to the small pile.

honestly, drunk medic, if you cant figure out what most of this swap could be searched up, you shouldnt even be trying. CrazySupra, thanks for adding to the information that is usefull, although the pinouts arent as necessary for me, as im going stinger. If anyone cant at least get an idea, its so far over their head that they shouldnt even try. The reliability comes with the complication. Thanks again!

the hardest thing for me to understand was the ecu pinouts. i still don't know what differences if any the JDM ecu has over the USDM. the best way for me to get the wiring done was to trace wires from the 7M harness to figure out what i needed to do with the 2JZ harness. i will try to search for every 2JZ swap thread i can find here and on SF. put it all in one place to help people out.

Ya, i still need to concentrate on both of them still, i still have to pass the wires through the main harness and fuse box. So where did you mount the ecu, and did you end up cutting some out of the 2j harness?

i didn't touch the fuse box. all the connections you need are found where the ecu is.

i've made bold any changes i made to my orig post, which answers what i did to the harness

ah gotcha. I wasnt sure if you had to run some of the engine harness through the fuse box. Again, im going stand alone, so i may have a different situation when the time comes.

i would factor in the fan for the water pump/radiator, an electric can run about 250~ and a new oem fan clutch + blade about 300 honestly im not sure which to go with myself.

in my project i also factored in new seals, belts, and with the 1jz power steering is it the same? i would opt for an oem mkiv replacement so i dont have to worry about the valve on it while i turn in a parking lot hehe
