2jz p/s pump on 1jz!?

So my powersteering pump started leaking on my 1jz.. So i found that my only option for a 1jz powersteering pump was to send it to driftmotion and get it remanufactured and then send it back to me for like 130 bucks.. Thats not too bad but i didnt want the down time of not having the powersteering pump.. But i know that a lot of 1jz/2jz parts are interchangable.. I did some research and read in a few threads that the powersteering pumps are interchangable.. Since i work at a shop i called some of my vendors and found a reman 2jz powersteering pump for 80 bucks with the core and i could get it that day so i did that.. cheaper and no down time and it came with a lifetime warranty.. here is my trouble.. with the 2jz powersteering pump installed the pulley sticks out 1 rib farther than the rest of the pulleys.. wouldnt really be a problem but everyonce in a while it will pop a rib off of the harmonic balancer and the belt will be riding on the ridge of the harmonic balancer which i dont think is good or that safe.. Anyone got a 1jz with a 2jz p/s pump? same issue? remedies? I could use some advice from the supra family..

Did you reuse the old pulley?

yeah i did i used the pulley that was on the 1jz powersteering pump.. Should i get a 2jz specific one?

I have a 2j pump from a gen 1 gs300 I used they 2j pulley and it is perfect. It is exactly perfect. Is the pulley on all the way?

hmm its supposed to be for a 96 tt supra or atleast that was the car i used as when i ordered the p/s pump.. I bet its the 1jz pulley that throwing it off just that one rib.. And yeah its on all the way and torqued to spec..

The 1jz, 2jz-gte, and 2jz-ge power steering pumps are all interchangeable. The pulley on your pump should be 6 rib, as all of these engines use 6 rib belts.

yeah thats what i have read was that they are all interchangable and pretty much the same exact pump minus some having the variable power assist and some not.. now with that just being stated this may be a stupid question but are the 1jz and 2jz p/s pulley's EXACTLY the same?

I was looking at the pump today.. and the pulley is right up against the housing.. cant go back any further.. But the front housing looks a little weird it sticks out quite a bit.. So i called the vender that i got the pump from today and told him the story.. so he sent me another one to try out that i will put on tmrw.. Mabe this one just got messed up somehow in the remanufacturing process.. I guess you get what ya pay for 80 bucks with a core is a bit of a difference from the 350 that toyota want for a new one.. I really hope this one works out.. I also gave my bud my aluminum p/s pulley from driftmotion for his 2jz pulley that i will put on this new pump.. Everyone cross your fingers i really want this to work so i can be driving my baby on the road and not worry about my belt coming flying off..
