Info is outdated, innovations occur that make everyone's lives easier. So, an updated version of "What parts do I need for an Aristo 2JZ engine to fit in my MA70?" thread is about to commence. I know some of the basic items that are needed, but its the specifics that never seem to be clarified.

Let me make this clear.. I have no welding, fabbing, or any kind of above average car skills so lets try and make the answers as simple as possible :D

I own a 1987 Supra w/ R154 (reference)

Items needed:

- Mid/rear sump pan is needed, but there are other smaller pieces that are also needed? Ive heard things like strainers and whatnot. What specific parts do I need for this mid/rear sump pan to work.

- Do I need to puchase the BIC motor mounts for the 2JZ to drop in?

- I have an r154 that I plan on using for the swap. I need a 1JZ Flywheel and I can use a 7M clutch and pressure plate right?

- I also need a 1JZ bellhousing for the tranny to drop into place

Can I use the 2JZ ECU or am I better off using a 1JZ ECU?

Do I need a 1JZ wiring harness along with the 2JZ harness that comes with the motor?

I know there are a few more things that is needed for this swap, but I am hardpressed to know what these things are. Your guys 2007 info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mid/rear sump pan is needed, but there are other smaller pieces that are also needed? I’ve heard things like strainers and what not. What specific parts do I need for this mid/rear sump pan to work?

You will need the upper and lower pan, oil screen/metal plate
You can get a Jza70 one, a MKIV one or a MKIV NA one (I was told this is better for single turbo conversions as you can drill the hole yourself (location is stamped) and you can customize a straight flange rather than a 90* one for oil to flow through.

Do I need to purchase the BIC motor mounts for the 2JZ to drop in?

This is not necessary if you already have a JZA70 mounts from a Supra and are 89 + model. You can also by the 7m or MKIV rubber isolators as well.
If you don’t have the brackets or are pre 89 like in your case, then BIC is the best solution.

I have an r154 that I plan on using for the swap. I need a 1JZ Flywheel and I can use a 7M clutch and pressure plate right?

Correct. I suggest getting a lightened flywheel and good clutch. Or at least resurface the stock flywheel before putting it in. Get ARP flywheel bolts. Factory ones become too soft. I broke a few.

I also need 1JZ bell housing for the tranny to drop into place.

Yes you do.

Can I use the 2JZ ECU or am I better off using a 1JZ ECU?

I suggest just wiring in the 2jz ECU. It is not any harder. Really, its not.
Also, if you can, try to find the fuel ecu that the 2jz uses. (SC300 has them too)

Do I need a 1JZ wiring harness along with the 2JZ harness that comes with the motor?

No you don’t.

you can use the mk3 fuel injector resistor with the 550cc injectors. i finally got mine fired up today. thing sounds mean.

if you decide to take off the AC pump. you can use the stock belt just reroute it different.

i was also able to use my stock 7M upper radiator hose. and for the lower. my engine came with the lower hose, which fits perfect.

Hey crazy, since you are pre89, do you think maybe you can make a seperate thread on what parts you needed and sort of a a quick guide as to what to do first. I will be keeping my stock twins when I go 2jz.

i was actually thinking about it. i made up 2 diagrams on how to hook up the fuel injectors with the 7M resistor pack, but i forget which one i used
