I'm just curious how much resistance the camshaft should have when trying to rotate without the belt on? My exhaust cam gives me no trouble at all, I can literally just grab the gear with both hands and rotate it with some force. The intake cam takes a bit of persuasion. I just replaced the intake cam thinking it was warped or something and it does rotate much easier now but still requires a long handled ratchet. It gets much easier during rotation however.

Both cams installed the same way, per TSRM, 14ft-lb, correct sequence, etc.

Thanks.

all the cam caps have the correct order, and position (ie. numbers facing front of engine, not backwards like my idiot buddy did on my engine, and not swapped between intake and exhaust)?

They should be correct order, however, is there any way to verify (number markings, etc..), I did it myself and I'm quite certain I put them back exactly perfect however I'm willing to check again..

Go look, they are stamped.

I doubt misplaced cam caps would make that big of a difference in difficulty to turn.. If everything is tight and in place, I wouldn't worry about it.

Is my only option to pull it and have it inspected? I replaced the cam and the gear doesn't seem to "wobble" anymore. When replacing the camshaft I noticed at some point during the rotation the belt would ride on the teeth rather than fitting in, then it would get back on track at another point in the rotation due to the "wobble" changing directions I assume. This is horrible..

might as well rip it all apart, and take a 2nd look. check out the cam caps that they are in the correct order and side (I1-7 for intake, E1-7 for exhaust, as well as take a closer look at your belt, and possibly compare to your original if you still have it.

Both my camshafts were difficult to turn a complete revolution, I'm pretty sure that's normal. I never tried by hand though, always used a crescent wrench. I would be worried about the "easy" one, the cam has to press down the valve springs which takes a bit of force to overcome. They get easier at different points obviously because they are not pressing down a valve.

Are you talking about, one is noticeably easier than the other to complete a full revolution? Just for clarifications sake.

Are we even still talking about this part of the issue?
